It isn’t often you can trample all over history. Wait, I can think of at least 5 instances right now where you can, ok whatever. What I’m trying to say is the zebra crossing featured in this Beatles album cover has recently received Grade II listing by the heritage minister.
Earlier this year I went to Abbey Road, not for a pilgrimage but to have lunch with my boyfriend’s family. His cousin happens to live about 5 minutes from this crossing.
On the way home, which coincided with using THE crosswalk, we encountered many tourists attempting to recreate a version of this photo.
While I’m sure it was a nuisance for those driving through the area when said tourists attempted their photos it was necessary. It’s necessary because otherwise you get a shot like mine below that looks like it could be any street in London.
